The Testing of God Reveals the Heart
The testing of God reveals the heart....but, of course, this sentence has a double meaning. Firstly, how will you test God — how will you find out if God is true and good and whether he loves you? But secondly, how will God test you — are you true, are you good and do you love him? We should be very careful in how we presume to test God, because our testing of him reveals our hearts. So is there a safe way for us to know if God really is who he says he is? Yes! Put your faith and trust in Jesus, give him your heart and learn to love like him. Or, in Jesus' own words: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind, [and]...love your neighbour as yourself." (Matt 22:37-39).
